John Roth Memorial Award
In memory of John Roth, BSA, 1994, the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences Students’ Organization (FASO) has established two graduating awards at a value of $250 each for a student in the degree and diploma programs. John Roth came to the faculty from a family farm near Fannystelle, Manitoba. He actively contributed to the faculty throughout his university career and upon graduation was employed by Zeneca Seeds in a position he held until the time of his death.

The awards will be offered to students who have been nominated by their peers and who:

(1) have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 over the last 60 credit hours in any program of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences or the School of Agriculture;

(2) have demonstrated leadership and community involvement at the university and elsewhere;

(3) have promoted faculty spirit and encouraged student involvement in faculty events;

(4) have demonstrated a commitment to Agriculture through summer employment either in agribusiness, family farm, university research or government research stations.

The awards will be presented annually at the Grad’s Farewell of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.

The selection committee for these awards will be the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences Awards Committee in consultation with the FASO Executive.
