Katharine M.S. Middleton Scholarship
In memory of Katharine M.S. Middleton, an endowment fund of $40,000 has been established at the University of Manitoba to provide a graduate scholarship in Human Nutritional Sciences. Miss Middleton was a distinguished food consultant who graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1929 with a Home Economics degree. She worked not only locally in Winnipeg with Eaton's and the Winnipeg Tribune, but also abroad, in the city of Chicago.

Each year, the available annual interest from the fund will be awarded to a graduate student who:

(1) is a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident;

(2) is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in the Department of Human Nutritional Sciences at the University of Manitoba;

(3) has achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (or equivalent) based on the most recent 60 credit hours of study; and

(4) is carrying out research focused on food product development.

Applicants must submit a written statement (maximum 250 words) to demonstrate how they have met criterion (4) above.

The Vice-Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies (or designate) will ask the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (or designate) to name the selection committee for this award.

The Board of Governors of the University of Manitoba has the right to modify the terms of this award if it becomes necessary to do so due to changed conditions. Such modification shall conform as closely as possible to the expressed intention of the donor in establishing the award.
