H.W. Kennedy Prize
Description:
A cash prize equal to the annual income on the trust fund is awarded to a student based on a short essay, set as part of the normal academic requirements of ENTM 3170 (Crop Protection Entomology), on a topic in forestry and/or horticulture, including, but not limited to, a discussion of the history of the plant(s), production practices, diseases, insect pests, and uses of the
commodity.

The successful recipient must also exhibit a special interest in horticulture or forestry and a
strong overall academic record.

The instructor of ENTM 3170 and the Department Head (or designate) of the Department of Entomology, after annually assessing the candidates most closely meeting the criteria, will forward their recommendations to the Awards Committee of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Manitoba. If, in the opinion of the Awards Committee no student merits the award, it may be withheld.
